As a freelancer I am constantly searching for ways to improve any of the various aspects of my work. Books are great of course (and my trusty Kindle goes everywhere I go) but when it’s impractical to read (eg. while exercising or driving) I find that a good podcast can easily fill that space.
Here are 3 freelance and business podcasts you should be listening to if you want to improve your freelance or small business.
If you’re a writer this one’s for you. Hosted by JR Havlan (a writer for The Daily Show), this podcast focuses on comedy writing for television with each episode featuring an interview with a writer that’s risen to the top of their game. Even if comedy writing is not your cup of tea, this podcast might still be of use to you as during the interviews, Havlan asks the interviewees about their history as freelancers, how they got to where they are now, things they learnt along the way.
This podcast, hosted by Phillipa Willits and Lorrie Hartshorn, attempts to answer common freelancer questions and help freelancers give their business a push forward. Unfortunately, this podcast has been cancelled but there’s still 79 episodes chock full of invaluable information available on their website. Once you’re done, just check out their page on Facebook where they still regularly share helpful content.
It seems like everybody has an online business nowadays. The barrier of entry is nearly non-existent and the markets are more saturated than ever. Luckily, there are still things you can do to kick your business up a notch and above your competitors. This podcast, hosted by Jeremy Frandsen and Jason Van Orden, will guide you through the process of growing your email list, getting more leads and more business, and expanding your brand.
