Is your smart phone’s battery life getting shorter and shorter? The reason’s not what you think.
After studying over 2,000 Samsung phones (specifically Galaxy S3 and S4) served by 191 mobile operators in 61 countries, a team of researches based in Purdue University in collaboration with Intel, discovered that almost 29% of the phones’ battery drain happened while the phone’s screen was off. The team explained that this was a result of apps “waking” the phone up while it’s not being used, regardless of whether or not they actually need to.
